A great ride through some of my favorite trails on a beautiful fall day
After a very long (for me anyways) lay off from riding, due to a new job, I finally got my bike out for a ride. With winter just around the corner any day I can get my bike out is a pretty great day. This ride was an especially good one too.

Most hobbies have their own rituals and mountain biking is no exception. My own ritual is to stop for a hot cup of coffee on the way home. The time it takes to finish the drink is a great time to reflect on the ride, giving me the chance to lock away the memories I just made.

Riding Trails In Penticton And Summerland B.C.
Finally! A new post. It has been a while since I have had some time to sit at my desk and write about mountain biking. I got back from a week and a half long trip to the interior of B.C., specifically the Summerland and Penticton area. The trails I rode there are not the forested, soft dirt trails of the west coast, but they had their own charm and fun to them.
After nursing my rib injury for just over a week I felt it was time to get back on my bike. It didn’t hurt too much to breathe, and jumping around wasn’t too bad so I figured a ride at my local trails would be good to knock the cob webs off.
It had rained a bit the night before, but it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. I did my pre-ride check and put the bike on the car. I was off to my first post injury ride and was a little nervous.
So I stumbled upon this awesome video while flipping through Flipboard.
It is very common for people to get brand loyal, and this is a good example. It also features some amazing riding in a pretty fantastical setting. Take a look at the video linked below. Check out some more great video here, here and here.
What is a drive train?
The drive train on your bike is the system that moves you forward. Pushing on your pedals turns the chain, which in turn moves your tires forward. There are many moving parts that contribute to it, but that is basically what it boils down to.
After watching this video I immediately wanted to get on my bike and ride. Listening and watching how Brandon Semenuk changed his focus and found a new lease on his riding and life struck a chord with me.
I highly recommend giving this a watch. Hopefully it will inspire someone to get out and make a change.
So I am off to Bragg Creek again tomorrow to ride some more singletrack trails with a friend. I figured this would be a good time to share what I pack and what I check on my bike before each ride.
So I have decided what bike I am eventually going to upgrade to.
After visiting Ridley’s Cycle in Kensington I have fallen in love with the Giant Trance 2. The one above is going to be the 2018 version, which is the one I am going to start saving for. I can’t wait to get it fitted just for me, fully adjusted and ready to roll.
